City of Novi Sad is one of 12 partner organizations from five European countries (United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Serbia and Spain), which were granted financing within the CIP EU project funding for the CLIPS – Cloud Approach For Innovation In Public Services Project.
The project is planned to do pilot projects in each participating country, i.e., to develop a new approach to the provision of public services by using cloud computing as a new technology that allows users to access information via the Internet, regardless of the location. Main idea behind the CLIPS is to develop a methodology and a toolkit that will allow citizens and other stake holders to participate in developing of the new "cloud" of public services.
Through the delivery of five pilots in five cities: Bremerhaven (DE), Lecce (IT), Novi Sad (RS), Santander (ES) and Stockport (UK), the project will seek to demonstrate how cloud based services can be used for the benefit of citizens and to facilitate the fictional scenario of a family moving from one member state to another and the typical complexities that such a move could entail. Taking into account administrative requirements such as registering for utilities, schooling, local taxes, social care, all through the use of use of a dedicated cloud based infrastructure, the primary goal of CLIPS is to demonstrate how the cloud can improve efficiencies and public service delivery.
The project is funded by the European Union, and the value of the donation to the City of Novi Sad is 38.700 euros and 36.200 euros to the PUC “Informatics”. Planned time for the project implementation is 30 months, and the implementation started in February 2014.
