The Mayor of Novi Sad, Miloš Vučević, and the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia, Ambassador Emanuele Giaufret, met at the City Hall in Novi Sad. Mayor Vučević thanked the Ambassador for the visit, as well as for the EU support in the realization of important projects for Novi Sad and Serbia, such as the construction of Žeželj's bridge and the building of judicial bodies, solving the housing issue of refugees and many other projects in vital areas.
Vučević pointed out that Novi Sad, as a local self-government, significantly takes part in activities that bring Serbia closer to the family of European countries, but also that "Serbian Athens" traditionally nurtures European values, i.e. tolerance and harmonious coexistence of many nations. Officials also assessed that the EU info corner in Novi Sad works well, contributing to informing citizens about the process of Serbia's accession to the European Union and the impact of that process on their lives.
Ambassador Emanuele Giaufret congratulated Novi Sad on the successful implementation of European projects and assessed as very important all activities that contribute to stability in the region, which is a prerequisite for overall progress.
The interlocutors expressed confidence that the good cooperation so far will be continued, all with the aim of joint advocacy for the rule of law and the creation of a stable democratic environment, which is a precondition for economic growth and improvement of the living standard of all citizens.
