The Mayor of Novi Sad, Miloš Vučević, met with the Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, Ambassador Jan Braathu. The Mayor wished him a warm welcome to the city, which, as he said, traditionally nurtures European values through the coexistence of various nations, encouraging cultural diversity.
The interlocutors assessed that the rule of law and human rights are imperative in every society, and that the role of local self-governments in implementing the necessary reforms in the country is of great importance. Vučević pointed out that the administration of the City of Novi Sad is focused on improving the economic situation and creating new jobs, striving to provide the best possible living conditions for all citizens.
Significant attention in Novi Sad is paid to culture, and especially through the European Capital of Culture Project, which has national support, we create an environment for culture to be an important resource for overall development and change the face of our city.
- These are projects that are systemic and that contribute to connecting people in this area, starting creative industries and connecting the civil and public sector in achieving the main goal, which is to make culture a way of life - Vučević emphasized.
The Mayor and the Ambassador Jan Braathu agreed that the stability of relations in the region is essential for economic progress, and then for further democratization of a society in which equal human rights are guaranteed to every individual.
