20.08.2021.

The Mayor of Novi Sad, Miloš Vučević, is staying in the Russian Federation, in the twin city of Novi Sad, Nizhny Novgorod, where he is attending numerous events organized on the occasion of the eight hundredth anniversary of the existence of that city.

 - Today we started a visit to dear friends in the twin city of Nizhny Novgorod. It is a great honor to represent our beautiful City of Novi Sad, the European Capital of Culture, the "Serbian Athens", at the solemn celebration of eight centuries of existence of that city of the Russian Federation. It is an honor to have the status of friends in this city, where we are very well received and where we have a lot of joint activities ahead of us. We started the day by visiting spiritual centers, getting acquainted with beautiful monasteries and churches, but above all with the history of the Romanov family and learning about the glorious past of the Russian people, which for centuries permeated the history of our country. I am honored to be able to represent our City at a ceremony like this, and in addition to protocol activities, we will try to use this visit to present our City in the best light. A volleyball match between Novi Sad and Russian volleyball players will be played today, and next week the football players of "Vojvodina" will arrive in Nizhny Novgorod. A business delegation will come in September, with concrete plans for cooperation. We will always and everywhere be someone who actively represents the interests of Novi Sad, Vojvodina and our homeland, Serbia - said Mayor Miloš Vučević.

Together with the Mayor of Banja Luka, Draško Stanivuković, who visited the Russian city on the same occasion, he visited the Pechersky monastery, where he met with the vicar of the monastery, Archimandrite Tikhon. To leave a trace of this visit, they planted a tree of friendship, and then visited the Serbian Center of the State University of Nizhny Novgorod.
