The aim of the Project "Lime Trees & Honey Bees for Sustainable Development of the Danube Micro Region" is to improve the competitiveness of honey producers with an emphasis on the Fruška gora lime honey. In accordance with the Project objectives the trainings in beekeeping have been planned and one part of their implementation has already started for the members of the beekeepers associations which are the Project partners. The specialized trainings for beekeepers associations involve trainings in connection with bee diseases, beekeeping legislation and best practices related to the safety of bee products and other professional issues in the field of beekeeping.
The trainings began in late November of 2013 and so far eight successful trainings were held, intended for the members of the following beekeepers associations which are the Project partners: Beekeepers Association “Jovan Živanović“ Novi Sad; Beekeepers Association “Jovan Živanović“ Sremski Karlovci; Beekeepers Association “Lipa“ Erdevik; Beekeepers Association “Jovan Živanović“ Sremska Mitrovica; Beekeepers Association “Nikola Mileusnić“ Ruma; Beekeepers Association “Roj“ Inđija; Beekeepers Association “Pčela“ Bačka Palanka; Beekeepers Association “Stražilovo“ Sremski Karlovci.

The project is implemented by the City of Novi Sad in collaboration with eleven partner organizations, eight of which are the beekeepers associations, with two faculties and one secondary school, and it is jointly financed by the European Union and the Austrian Development Agency in the framework of Call for Proposals “Socio-economic Development of the Danube Serbia Region”.
