POTENTIALS OF NOVI SAD PRESENTED IN THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA

Assistant to the mayor of Novi Sad Vanja Vučenović participated as a member of the delegation of the Republic of Serbia at the Forum for Cooperation between China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe held in Chongqing between 1^st to 5^th July this year, in the People's Republic of China.

The aim of the Forum was to promote the cooperation and networking in the field of economy and culture between China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, and during the Forum, assistant to the mayor Vanja Vučenović, as a member of the Serbian delegation, presented the City of Novi Sad and its economic, infrastructural and cultural potentials.

On this occasion, series of meetings and consultations were held in order to improve the relations and cooperation between Novi Sad and the cities of China through the representatives of the city administration of Chongqing, which has a population of 33 million people, as well as through the representatives of the province of Jilin, where the twin city of Novi Sad, the City of Changchun, is situated. 

Important contacts were made with the representatives of several major Chinese companies, which were presented with the opportunities for cooperation and investment in the City of Novi Sad, while the potentials of the City were promoted by the major media in Chongqing, as well as by those with  the national coverage.

- Numerous contacts have been established and the communication with the relevant administrative authorities of China, as well as with significant economic entities, has been facilitated. Likewise, there has been an interest of Chinese companies to invest in our city in the future, and there is a sincere desire of Chongqing to strengthen the ties with Novi Sad. We have made the first step toward advancing the cultural and economic cooperation, and there is a mutual desire to intensify the cooperation with China in the future, especially in the fields of agriculture, tourism and infrastructural investment - assistant to the mayor Vanja Vučenović said, after his official visit to China.
