It is the realization of one of the largest investment projects in our city this year, which includes works on the construction of the lighting for "Karađorđe" stadium and the activities on the replacement of lamps and poles in the city and its suburbs.

-The existing network has not been properly maintained for years so we allocated significant funds for this purpose. Implementation of the project will assure significant savings, more precisely, five times reduced power consumption. Adaptation of the existing system apart from its revitalization includes the expansion of the street lighting system as well - said Mr Pavličić.

As the Assistant Director in PE for City Construction and Development Ms Mirjana Dejanović said,  citizens addressed her company with numerous requests referring to the improvement of the public lighting. Adaptation of street lighting in the city area includes replacement of the street light poles and lamps. The plan for the suburbs is to replace old mercury bulbs with new metal halide or sodium lamps, and to thereby provide a higher level of lighting, longer life and lower power consumption. In suburban areas about 6,000 lamps are to be replaced. One thousand street lights will be replaced in Telep and Klisa, and 2750 street light poles and lamps will be revitalized in Liman and Novo naselje. The contractor is "Energotehnika - South Backa" from Novi Sad. The investment worth is 677,449,424 dinars, and the deadline for completion is 238 calendar days.

The works have already been finalised in Telep and Klisa, while they currently intensify in Liman, synchronized with the reconstruction of the heating system. After Liman the works are planned for Novo naselje and the city centre. Later come suburbial neighbourhoods of Sremska Kamenica, Kać, Kisač and places that are most vulnerable in terms of condition of street lighting.
