Novi Sad Mayor Miloš Vučević has met the Ambassador and Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia H.E. Emanuel Giofre. The Mayor wished His Excellency a warm welcome and expressed his gratitude for the good cooperation and support of the EU capital infrastructure projects in Novi Sad.

The officials referred to the numerous activities that are carried out in Novi Sad as the current European Capital of Culture and assessed that the intercultural dialogue is of great importance for a closer connection of countries in Europe. Better mutual understanding, as they emphasized, also contributes to better relations between countries.

During the meeting, it was also concluded that peace and stability are key for the further development of the region, and that it is very important to recognize the elements of unity and to act unitedly on the principles of the highest humanitarian values.

Mayor Miloš Vučević emphasized that Novi Sad has always been an example of harmonious coexistence of people of different nations and religions, and that the tradition of nurturing diversity is an important factor that contributed to Novi Sad becoming part of the most important European project in culture. 

- The European Capital of Culture project gave Novi Sad the opportunity to show innovation, to strengthen capacities, improve its infrastructure and become a place of positive examples and good practices, and the message sent from Novi Sad is that Serbia strives to always be a promoter of the policy of dialogue – Vučević concluded.
