In the Novi Sad City Hall, Mayor of Novi Sad Miloš Vučević met the Ambassador of Japan to Serbia H.E. Masafumi Kuroki, on his first official visit to Novi Sad.
In a cordial conversation, Mayor Vučević welcomed Ambassador Kuroki and emphasized the importance of selfless support that Japanese people have been giving to our country and our city, through numerous donations in different fields. The Mayor highlighted the successful cooperation of the City of Novi Sad and Japan and mentioned the agreement signed between the University of Novi Sad and the University of Okayama. Owing to the exceptional cooperation with the Jovan Jovanović Zmaj High School, the Ambassador expressed interest in the possibility of introducing the Japanese language in secondary schools.
While presenting Novi Sad as a multinational community that traditionally has good international relations and cultural exchange, the mayor said that Novi Sad is also a very attractive place in terms of investment.
Japanese Ambassador thanked the City of Novi Sad for the aid that has been raised in 2009 when a powerful earthquake hit Japan. The officials agreed that developing of cooperation in the fields of education, culture should be continued and that the student exchange should be encouraged.
The Ambassador expressed appreciation for the warm reception and said that Novi Sad has good potentials for further development and agreed with Mayor Vučević that previous cooperation should be improved in the areas of agriculture, science, IT industry and tourism.
