THE KINGDOM OF NORWAY AMBASSADOR VISITS THE CITY HALL

The Mayor of Novi Sad, Miloš Vučević, received the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to the Republic of Serbia, H. E. Jørn Eugene Gjelstad. The Mayor welcomed him and the Ambassador thanked for the warm reception and pointed out that this was his first official visit to Novi Sad.

They discussed the organization of a conference on the circular economy, which should be held in September in four cities in Serbia, including Novi Sad. The project will take place under the auspices of the Nordic Council of Ministers, and the goal is to acquaint local self-governments in Serbia with examples of good practice from the Nordic countries. It is a matter of finding the best solutions in the field of climate change, as well as in the fields of more efficient waste management, improved recycling, reduction of raw material consumption and pollution emissions.

The Ambassador emphasized that the organization of the Novi Sad conference will be taken over by the embassy of the Kingdom of Norway and that this will lay the foundation for long-term cooperation between the embassies of the Nordic countries, institutions, companies and experts with local partners.

The topic of promotion of business activities between Nordic and local companies and institutions was opened at the meeting, and the interlocutors pointed out that many areas that could be in the focus of potential cooperation in the coming period are innovation, digitalization, corporate social responsibility and environmental protection.
