Afterwards they visited the greenery planting works in the Pašićeva Street, which represent the final phase of the street’s renovation.
On the occasion, in the framework of initiative "Planting of 10,000 New Trees", the five thousandth tree was planted.

"Irrigation system is being set up along the entire length of the Boulevard of Europe and it will be completed by the end of the year. It should provide faster growth of greenery and lower maintenance costs. Wherever possible we will put irrigation systems, because it is a good practice in all developed European cities. In one of the oldest parts of the city we finished the renovation of the Pašićeva Street and now we are planting greenery. By the end of the year we expect the city to have 10% green areas, so our progress towards meeting the European standard of 20% is good." – said Mayor Igor Pavličić.

"In addition, intensive works are being carried out on cleaning the areas around access roads to Novi Sad, in order to prepare the ground for planting several hundred seedlings in those parts of the city. All these activities will contribute to quality of living in Novi Sad, as every tree is a significant air purifier and noise protector." – Željka Jurakić stated.

In the beginning of October, Public Utility Company "City Roads" started roadworks in the Pašićeva Street, upon the completion of works on the replacement of sewage and water installations. After the existing asphalt construction was demolished in the Pašićeva Street, concrete boards in the length of 184 m were set up and the remaining part of the road was covered with a new asphalt layer. In the total length of 316 m new kerbs and concrete blocks were set up in the zone of pedestrian lanes (approx. 2400 m2), about 60 parking spots were constructed, new installations for public lighting were set up, as well as public lighting poles. In this street, where concrete dominates and where there is a danger of damage to underground installations, trees are planted in vertically positioned pipes, in order for the roots not to damage the installations over time. Along the Boulevard of Europe, 3600 m2 of grass was planted, 500 oak seedlings, 231 hornbeam trees and 968 seedlings of ornamental shrubs. The roundabout was decorated by three pyramidal hornbeams, six mulberry trees, 1240 seedlings of ornamental shrubs, grass area of 883 m2, 990 seedlings of seasonal flowers were planted and planting of 1260 roses is planned.
