Head of the Mayor’s Office Aleksandar Petrović, together with a member of the City Council in charge of the economy MSc Goran Sečujski and a Vice Rector for Science and International Cooperation of the University of Novi Sad Prof. Dr. Pavle Sekeruš held a meeting with a delegation of the Polish City of Lublin today at the City Hall.

Polish delegation, made up of the Deputy Mayor of Lublin Monika Lipinska and a member of the City Council of the City of Lublin Marta Vislo, discussed with the representatives of our City and University the possibilities to expand the existing successful cooperation between the two cities.

Since the protocols and procedures, necessary for the formalization of the further cooperation between Lublin and Novi Sad have been established, the interlocutors also discussed the importance of the Letter of Intent which was signed a year ago, between the Mayor of Novi Sad Miloš Vučević and the Mayor of Lublin Krzysztof Żuk. With this step Novi Sad and Lublin have pledged to work together on getting to know their communities, sharing experience in the city management policy, supporting the collaboration among artists and cultural institutions and organizing their participation and performance in both Lublin and Novi Sad, as well as their promotion in Europe and the world.

Today's meeting was aimed to concretize further steps in the expansion of formal cooperation between the two cities, the first of which is to prepare the necessary documents for the establishment of partnerships Novi Sad and Lublin. Given the fact that in Poland there is no formal name for the twin city and the terminology used for the highest authority regarding the closeness of the two cities is a partner city, which is also recognized by the Statute of the City of Novi Sad, the preparation of a plan for the partnership document will be commenced.

Likewise, it has been agreed that in the future development of partnership between Novi Sad and Lublin the cooperation will take place primarily in the fields of economy, culture and education, based on the exchange of experience of local governments and university experts, as well as through student exchanges and through the support for participation in the European projects, strengthening the capacity for entrepreneurship and creating the conditions for a favorable investment climate.

This meeting represents a simple continuation of good international cooperation between Novi Sad and Lublin, aimed at intensifying of the existing cooperation with an epilogue of the official partnership in the near future.
