DELEGATION OF THE SLOVAK REPUBLIC VISITS NOVI SAD

28.04.2021.

The Mayor of Novi Sad Miloš Vučević and his associates met with the delegation of the Slovak Republic, headed by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Ingrid Brocková, and the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic, H.E. Fedor Rosocha.

The officials discussed the fruitful cooperation between the two countries so far and the importance of the Slovak national community in Novi Sad, Vojvodina and Serbia. Mayor Vučević once again thanked the Slovak Republic for its support to Novi Sad in the fight against the Corona virus, emphasizing that solidarity is very important in times when society is facing a great challenge and when people's health is endangered.

He also said that Slovak culture and tradition represent a part of the identity of Novi Sad, making it what it essentially is - a multinational community that is a shining example when it comes to harmonious coexistence and nurturing diversity.

It was assessed at the meeting that it is a very good idea to form a united Slovak cultural centre in Novi Sad, considering that it houses important Slovak institutions in the field of culture and education.

Representatives of the Slovak Republic and the City stated that there is great potential for developing cooperation, and that it should be strengthened economically. Traditionally good relations between the two countries, active bilateral cooperation and full support provided by the Slovak Republic to Serbia on its path to the European Union were assessed as a favourable ground for fruitful joint projects at the local level.
