Manager of the Novi Sad Local Economic Development Office, prof. Marijana Dukić-Mijatović, PhD, attended the presentation of project "Cloud approach for Innovation in Public Services", organized by the "DunavNet" company.
The City of Novi Sad is one of 12 partner organizations from five European countries in the CLIPS project approved for funding in the framework of the FP7 Program. Besides the City, project participants from Novi Sad are the Public Utility Company "Informatics" Novi Sad and "DunavNet".
The objective is to develop pilot projects in each participant country which would transfer the existing data and information of the local self-governments into a "cloud", thus improving public services to citizens by offering online access.
- The Local Economic Development Office and the City of Novi Sad have always had dynamic project activities and we will always support all kinds of technological development, to provide better and more convenient everyday living of our citizens. All the cloud services will be designed to enable interoperability and ensure that the system can be further developed, which would provide a more competitive market of public e-services and meet the citizens’ needs. The importance of this project is in the exchange of knowledge, creation of partnerships, but also in access to the EU funds allocated for cutting-edge information technologies – said prof. Dukić-Mijatović, PhD.
- The project features cities from Italy, Spain, England, Germany and Serbia and the objective is to provide the citizens of European countries with the same e-services regardless of their location. Currently we are at an early stage of project implementation, actually in the fifth month, while the project is planned to last three years. Now we are trying to determine the information, i.e. services, that the cities could provide to their mobile citizens, for example information about schools, healthcare system, etc. – said project manager Mr. Lanfranco Marasso.
The transfer of data implies the use of cloud computing technology which gives users access to information via the Internet, regardless of their physical location, thus providing great mobility, simplicity and efficiency.
