Manager of the Local Economic Development Office Marijana Dukić Mijatović attended the closing conference of the City of Novi Sad project "Development of Energy Infrastructure in the Rimski Šančevi Work Zone in Novi Sad". In accordance with the Novi Sad Economic Development Strategy, for the purpose of improving the operations of SMEs as the most important drivers of industrial development and new employment, the City of Novi Sad, in particular the Public Company "Business Premises", are developing a business, industrial and services industry complex in the Rimski šančevi Work Zone in Novi Sad. The location is between two neighboring local self-governments, the City of Novi Sad and the Municipality of Temerin, and on a long-term basis it should provide 50.000 m2 of useful business premises.
-Investment promotion is greatly important for keeping the existing jobs and creating new job opportunities. The City is working in synergy with partners to create the best possible conditions for attracting investors and this project has the same purpose. Currently we are working on solving the property ownership issues in the North IV Work Zone, while in the future we would develop infrastructure of that site as well – said Marija Dukić Mijatović.
According to Project Manager Olivera Simović, the project implementation created the basis for gas network development in the Rimski šančevi zone, which is aimed at the development of small-scale privately owned businesses.
-This is the follow-up of all the City’s activities on the improvement of the environment for small-scale privately owned businesses – said Mrs. Simović.-We are supporting all projects improving the investment environment in Novi Sad and the quality of life of citizens. This project is different by the fact that it is a way of intermunicipal cooperation and one more method of solving important economic issues that the Secretariat supports – said Undersecretary of the Provincial Secretariat for Interregional Cooperation and Local Self-Government, Mrs. Vesna Piperski Tucakov.
Project partners of the City of Novi Sad are the Municipality of Temerin, Public Company "Business Premises", Bačka Regional Development Agency, Vojvodina Investment Promotion Fund, Vojvodina Metal Cluster, while the donor is the Provincial Secretariat for Interregional Cooperation and Local Self-Government. Total project value is 3.184.480,00 RSD, while the grant amount is 1.250.000,00 RSD. Representatives of partner institutions and SMEs also attended the conference.
