Mayor Miloš Vučević met with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Mr. Rashid Hassan Pour Baei, who is on his first courteous visit to Novi Sad, after he was appointed ambassador in May this year.

On that occasion, the Mayor wished His Excellency a warm welcome and expressed satisfaction with the good cooperation between the City and the Embassy so far. Officials agreed that it was the most pronounced in the field of culture and assessed that Iranian culture is represented in Novi Sad through events and festivals organized by the cultural centers of Novi Sad and Iran. The Ambassador congratulated the Mayor for being elected to that position for the third time, because, as he assessed, that speaks in favor of the good results of his work.

The Mayor and the Ambassador assessed that overcoming the crisis caused by the pandemic and the correct response in the protection of public health are the priority tasks of all countries and cities. As they said, that is a necessary condition for the normalization of bilateral activities and international correspondence.

Mayor Vučević emphasized that the potentials for joint projects in culture, education, economy, and especially in tourism, are great, and expressed hope that the situation will soon stabilize, and that joint ventures will be able to be realized in full capacity.
