AMBASSADOR OF FINLAND VISITS NOVI SAD

The Mayor of Novi Sad, Miloš Vučević, met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Finland, H.E. Kimmo Lähdevirta at the City Hall and wished him a warm welcome. Ambassador Lähdevirta thanked for the hospitality, praising the successful cooperation between Novi Sad and the Embassy of Finland so far.

The Mayor and the Ambassador talked about the protection of the environment and the plans of Novi Sad in the fields of improving the quality of ecology and energy efficiency, i.e. the concept of a "smart city". In that regard, the Ambassador emphasized that the experiences of Finnish "smart cities" can also serve Novi Sad, which is already actively working on it, primarily in the field of creating sustainable and ecological infrastructure.

They also talked about the excellent investment climate that has prevailed in recent years in Novi Sad, and about the city's potentials that could provide Finnish companies with new business opportunities. In this regard, experiences were exchanged on concrete solutions offered in the field of improving air quality in the city.

The Mayor and the Ambassador agreed that bilateral relations between Serbia and Finland are traditionally good and friendly, and that they hope that the situation caused by the corona virus will calm down soon and that cooperation between the two countries will intensify in all fields.

As the next joint activity, they pointed out the Conference on Circular Economy, which the Embassy of Finland and other Nordic embassies plan to organize in Novi Sad in the fall.
