The Mayor of Novi Sad, Miloš Vučević, met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey, H.E. Hami Aksoy in the City Hall in Novi Sad. The officials discussed the establishment of closer cooperation between Novi Sad and the Turkish city of Alanya, and stated that certain steps have already been taken in that area, i.e. that the plan is to sign a Letter of Intent between the cities on establishing cooperation.
As it was pointed out during the meeting, tourism was recognized as an area for developing partnership relations between Novi Sad and Alanya, primarily due to the huge potential of Novi Sad and Alanya from that industry, but also culture, especially in light of Novi Sad's election as the European Capital of Culture 2022. The Mayor and the Ambassador agreed that there are good potentials for joint activities in the field of sports, as well as for creating mutual ties in the field of education, especially at the university level.
The Ambassador and the Mayor assessed that there is a significant space for business cooperation in the field of economy, especially in the IT sector, and that they will support the communication between local and Turkish companies.
As Vučević and Aksoy concluded, good relations between the Republic of Turkey and the Republic of Serbia are a platform for the implementation of joint projects at the level of international cooperation between the cities of the two countries.
