The Mayor of Novi Sad, Miloš Vučević, met in the City Hall with the Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, Ambassador Jan Braathu.
Mayor Vučević pointed out the intensification of activities of line City Administrations in the field of environmental protection and briefly presented projects in the field of ecology and sustainable development, which are highly ranked on the list of policy priorities of Novi Sad in that area.
During their conversation, significant attention was paid to culture, i.e. the importance of creating preconditions for its unhindered development, which consequently affects the quality of life of citizens, as well as the development of the city. The Ambassador emphasized that it is evident that Novi Sad is seriously preparing to take over the title of European Capital of Culture at the beginning of next year, as evidenced by the change of the external appearance of the city center, the announced rich program, as well as the visible signs in the city center that symbolically represent the countdown to the date of taking over the prestigious title.
The interlocutors pointed out that the rule of law is an imperative in every society, and concluded that the OSCE Mission to Serbia has always been a reliable partner of Serbia and that it continuously supports it in its reforms and progress.
The Ambassador and the Mayor also discussed the consequences of the pandemic and in relation to this the Head of the OSCE Mission Braathu mentioned the initiatives that have been part of the Mission's comprehensive effort to help Serbia respond to the consequences of the Covid 19 virus since the beginning of the pandemic.
