CITY GOVERNMENT SUPPORTS COOPERATION OF ENTREPRENEURS FROM NOVI SAD AND BELARUS

Manager of the Local Economic Development Office of the City of Novi Sad, prof. Marijana Dukić-Mijatović, PhD, presented the potentials of Novi Sad at the meeting of government and business delegations of Novi Sad and Belarus. Prof. Dukić-Mijatović emphasized that Novi Sad and Belarusian city of Gomel became sister cities last year in May, thus creating even better conditions for cooperation in the fields of economics, tourism, education, health and culture.

Prof. Dukić-Mijatović also said that Novi Sad is constantly striving to expand its investment offer, by improving incentives for investors both on the local and state level. A good example is the City’s initiative, in cooperation with state institutions, for the amendment of Regulation on alienation and lease of construction land, ensuring competitiveness of Novi Sad on the market.

The City of Novi Sad is undertaking dynamic activities in the local economic development, by supporting local economy, attracting foreign investments and applying for EU-funded projects. In the last couple of years, Novi Sad has become a leader in the IT sector, with skilled programmers and world-renowned companies operating in the city, while the development of the IT sector is listed as a priority in the Novi Sad Economic Development Strategy. The City is offering attractive sites for business development in infrastructurally-developed work zones intended for secondary and tertiary sectors of the economy. The most significant sites are located in work zones North I and North II – said prof. Dukić-Mijatović, wishing entrepreneurs from Novi Sad and Belarus good results on B2B meetings.

Representative of the Brest Free Economic Zone administration Viktor Nevdakh presented the advantages of that economic organization, while General Director of the Gomel Branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce Marina Filonova thanked for the warm welcome and organization of this important economic meeting.

Representatives of companies from various fields attended the event – from food industry, pharmaceutics and household chemicals, to banking, machinery, electric motors and textile production.
